Minnesota's Biggest Summer Marching Band Competition

ALEXANDRIA ALUMNI BAND
Alexandria, MN

1994 HONOR UNIT

It was a big year for the Alexandria Band. After several "building years" under new director John Anderson, the band seemingly came out of nowhere and began winning competitions. The band won its first Grand Champion title from the Minneapolis Aquatennial and finished with its only undefeated season to date. In the same year, the band played host to twenty bands in the first Vikingland Band Festival. The year was 1985.
The seniors that year -- and the seniors of all years since -- walked away with a mountain of good memories. The highlight of their marching career may be the performance at the Cotton Bowl Parade, the Rose Parade or the National Independence Day Parade. Or the highlight may be the Olympic Festival Closing Ceremony, the International Lions Convention Parade or the hometown Vikingland Band Festival.
Regardless of the favorite memory, the band alumni have a common bond. That's why a group of them have assembled here today. So even if they play a bit out of tune and tire out along the route, give them a hand while they play it again.

Director: John Anderson
Repertoire: College Boy (Alexandria School Song)
