Minnesota's Biggest Summer Marching Band Competition

U.S. MARINE CORPS BAND
Parris Island, SC

1994 HONOR UNIT

The Vikingland Band Festival heartily welcomes the Parris Island Marine Corps Band as Honor Band of the tenth anniversary Festival.
The Parris Island Band performs hundreds of times each year in every idiom imaginable. The band's main mission is to provide musical support for the Recruit Training Regiment as well as the Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort. In addition to playing more than 40 recruit graduations each year, the band also plays numerous concerts and parades all across America.
In addition to the constant state of musical readiness for which the band is known, the members never lose sight of the fact that they are first and foremost Marines. To live up to this responsibility, the band members participate annually in field exercises four times, take physical fitness tests twice, and qualify with the M16A2 service rifle. In this way the Marine musician remains prepared to perform his or her primary mission of being a basic Marine rifleman.

Band Officer: Warrant Officer Robert C. Jacob III
Drum Major: Master Sergeant Lawrence V. Francese
Enlisted Band Leader: Master Sergeant Joseph Hoffman
