2013 Presidential Inaugural Parade to be filled with music

Thirty-two marching units included in parade lineup

WASHINGTON, DC (January 15, 2013) — Marching bands will be well represented in the 57th Presidential Inaugural Parade on Monday, January 21. Of the 60 organizations that received and accepted invitations to the lineup, 32 are musical marching units including 16 high school bands, 8 university bands and 8 related marching groups. The remaining slots are filled by a broad range of entries such as military units, cultural groups, dance troupes and state delegations.

The 57th Presidential Inauguration January 21, 2013 Getting one of the rare invitations is truly a "golden ticket" opportunity. The Presidential Inaugural Committee announced that 2,807 applications were submitted to participate in the parade.

The parade will also include eight floats that have been custom-built to represent the First Family and Second Family's home states, civil rights, the inaugural theme and more.

The estimated start time for the parade is 2:35 PM (Eastern) on Monday, January 21, which is also Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Multiple television networks including ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, C-SPAN, FOX News Channel and Telemundo will be covering the inauguration festivities. Coverage of the parade will vary, but it is anticipated that all of the networks will at least show the parade as background of their ongoing coverage. The parade follows the ceremonial swearing-in ceremony scheduled for 11:30 AM on Capitol Hill.
